Thread Vein Treatments:
Photoderm and Laser Therapy
This is an outpatient treatment using intense pulsed light (IPL) or Laser
for tiny thread veins (spider veins). It uses an intense
pulse of light to coagulate the blood in the visible thread veins, which is
then absorbed by the body over several weeks, removing the thread vein. Photoderm
therapy or laser is a suitable treatment for very small thread veins on un-tanned skin. It
causes minimal discomfort, may be associated with some bruising and treated skin
must not be exposed to strong sunlight for 6 weeks following a treatment session.
The Consultants at Warwickshire Vein Centre have found photoderm or laser therapy to be
highly effective for small red visible veins. If appropriate for your thread veins,
your Consultant will discuss the procedure for photoderm or laser therapy in more detail at
your consultation.
Warwickshire Surgical Partners recommend and will recommend and refer you to a clinic that performs Photoderm or Laser treatments.
Advanced Electrolysis
This an outpatient treament where a small electric current is passed through the skin.
It is highly effective at treating small thread veins, particularly facial veins.
