Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT)
This is a treatment for varicose veins which can be performed under local or general anaesthetic. Under ultrasound control,
a laser fibre is passed up the vein, which is then sealed from the inside using laser energy. Small lumpy veins can also be
removed at the same time through tiny incisions which are closed with a paper strip.
Afterwards patients wear a stocking for 2 weeks. Bruising and discomfort is usually minimal and return to normal activity is rapid.
